NBA Mock Draft 6.0: Spurs jump into top 3; Lakers offload Russell Westbrook

Breaking down the trade

Alas, the Los Angeles Lakers finally right the wrong from last offseason and they pull the trigger on Buddy Hield, this time with the Indiana Pacers. In return, the Pacers get the expiring contract of Russell Westbrook (which they will likely buy out), Talen Horton-Tucker, and LA’s 2025 semi-protected first-round pick.

T.J. McConnell is thrown in to make the money work and could help the Lakers in the backcourt. The Lakers won’t have many options during the offseason, but this seems like one that could arise at the NBA Draft. I believe that the Lakers are going to do everything they can to offload Westbrook and they get it done.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis are back and given one more chance to run it back with relatively the same roster, sans Westbrook.
