Acquire a defensive-minded wing

There are always a few defensive-minded wings that are available either via free agency or trade during the offseason. This offseason is not going to be much different. The Lakers need to add defense to the roster, something that they desperately missed this season compared to last year and the year previously.

All the serious contenders have at least an average defense; most have an elite one. The Lakers finished with the 21st ranked defense and struggled on that end of the floor for much of the year. Getting back to a defensive mindset will be part of the team’s road back to redemption.

While much of that will have to do with the new head coach establishing it, look for the Lakers to add at least one defensive wing.
