Get in front of the LeBron James situation before he hijacks another offseason

Perhaps the biggest offseason goal for the Lakers this summer is getting ahead of the LeBron James situation before he not only hijacks another offseason but another basketball calendar year overall.

Having LeBron on your team is like a double-edged sword. It’s great at the beginning and when you’re winning championships, but once that honeymoon phase is over it generally ends badly – for the franchises.

And if the Lakers want to avoid the same fate that fell at the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers (twice) and Miami Heat, this is the offseason in which Los Angeles needs to get ahead of things.

That could come in a variety of ways, whether it’s signing LeBron to a contract extension or even helping him find a trade. Either way, the Lakers have some lofty expectations this summer. It’ll be interesting to see how many of these goals they actually hit.
