NBA Trade Rumors: According to a recent report, Rudy Gobert will ask the Utah Jazz to pick between him and Donovan Mitchell.
The NBA’s offseason is here and expect plenty of smoke to be out there between now and the actual start of the transactional offseason period. Essentially, there are going to be plenty of whispers between now and the NBA Draft.
Figuring out which of those whispers are actually true or not is the real challenge.
And, perhaps, we might have our first big “bombshell” of the NBA offseason. According to a recent report from Sean O’Connell who is a SiriusXM radio host in Utah, the reported schism in Utah will hit its peak this summer when Rudy Gobert will ask the Jazz to either trade him or Donovan Mitchell.
There have been whispers of discontent between the two, but nothing substantial had been reported or leaked. And even when something was, Gobert and Mitchell, or the Jazz, were quick to quiet it down.
Though, another offseason is here and after another early playoff exit, this could be the perfect opportunity for the Jazz to hit the retool button. And doing so would likely mean trading one of Gobert or Mitchell.
If this report is in fact true, and honestly, at this point, it wouldn’t surprising either way. That’s where we are in this narrative for the Jazz. But, again, assuming this report is accurate, it would create an interesting dynamic for the Jazz heading into the offseason.
It’s not as easy a decision as some might believe it to be.
There’s no question that the Jazz is heading into an interesting offseason. The big question, of course, is whether or not that will involve them trading one of their big stars. At this point, it’s trending to a place where they could be open for business.
