NBA Trade Rumors: Atlanta Hawks could revisit Ben Simmons possibility?
NBA Trade Rumors: Could the Atlanta Hawks revisit their interest in Ben Simmons this offseason?
The Atlanta Hawks quickly emerged as one of the more disappointing teams in the Eastern Conference this past season. Even though they made the playoffs this year, after a bad start to the year, I don’t think anyone really expected this team to take a step back from making the conference finals last year.
Atlanta snuck into the postseason as the 8th seed before losing to the Miami Heat in five games.
Nevertheless, that’s exactly what happened, and the team faces some big decisions this offseason.
Point blank, the objective for this offseason for the Hawks is pretty clear. This team needs to find a legit second star to place next to Trae Young. John Collins never looked quite like that player this past season and had his own injury concerns as well.
But it could prove to be difficult for the Hawks to find a star to pursue this offseason. One target that could emerge, however, is Ben Simmons. The Hawks reportedly had an interest in Simmons at the NBA Trade Deadline before
According to a report from The Athletic, the Hawks could revisit their interest in Ben Simmons. Of course, that would hinge on the Brooklyn Nets actually being open to trading Simmons before he actually even plays in a game for the team.
It still seems unlikely that the Nets would want to trade Simmons before they actually know what they have with him, but we’ve seen weirder things in the league before.
The Hawks will without a doubt be looking to make some changes to their roster during the offseason, but it remains to be seen if they’re actually going to make a big move that would drastically change their prospects heading into next season.
