The pros for the Utah Jazz trading Donovan Mitchell

When it comes to the pros of trading Donovan Mitchell, it’s to see. The Utah Jazz would be jumpstarting a retooling of sorts by trading their best asset on the roster. If the Jazz wanted to retool the roster around Rudy Gobert, trading Mitchell would bring a huge haul.

Mitchell is under contract for the next three years (with a player option for the fourth year) and is in the middle of his prime at 25 years old. He’s on his way to becoming a superstar and likely would already be at that status had he been drafted by a team in a bigger market.

He’d command multiple future first-round picks, good young players, and a contributing veteran or two (depending on what the Jazz would ask for). It may not seem like a good idea to trade Mitchell, but if he really wants out then the Jazz could swing a huge blockbuster trade and would still be competitive.

Even if they wanted to simply hit the reset button, he’d bring in the necessary haul of future assets that would help ensure a solid foundation moving forward for the franchise.
