The Milwaukee Bucks have a number of decisions to make on their own roster, choosing whether to retain or let players walk. They have three players with player options, three unrestricted free agents, and two restricted free agents.

Player options: Pat Connaughton

Pat Connaughton has a player option for the 2022-23 season at just over $5.7 million. He seems to love his role in Milwaukee, being able to come off the bench and hoist up shots from deep with little to not consequence. He may have been the Milwaukee Bucks’ second-best offensive player against Boston, as his remarkably quick release helped him drain threes over opposing defenders.

On the open market, he could likely get more than that salary, with 3-and-D wings being coveted more than ever around the league. He’s likely due for a raise, but could still opt into the last year of his deal, hoping to boost his value even more. If he opts out, he could still restructure a deal with the Bucks to remain in Milwaukee, as they hold full bird rights.

With Milwaukee’s wing talent after Khris Middleton being exposed in the playoffs, losing Pat Connaughton would be extremely detrimental to the depth of the 2021 NBA champions.
