NBA Rumors: The Portland Trail Blazers could target restricted free agent Miles Bridges this offseason.
The Portland Trail Blazers must make a big move this offseason. Their options could be limited but there’s one player, who is set to be a restricted free agent, that they could target in an attempt to pry him away from his incumbent team.
And that player is Miles Bridges, who is coming off the best season of his young career thus far with the Charlotte Hornets.
According to a report, the Blazers have already emerged as a potential landing spot for Bridges. Portland will be looking to add a second star next to Damian Lillard this summer and should have plenty of cap space to make something happen.
"[via SNY.TV]Where could Portland turn in free agency? During the season, at least one prominent member of the organization viewed Miles Bridges as a target for the club."
Bridges is a restricted free agent and should be in for a huge payday after the season he just had with the Hornets. During his fourth season in the league, Bridges is coming off a campaign in which he averaged 20 points, seven rebounds, and four assists per game on 49 percent shooting from the field.
He’s also just 24 years old and there’s a chance he hasn’t even reached his peak as a player yet. He will likely get something close to a max extension, if not the full max this offseason. But the question is, heading into the offseason, is whether or not the Hornets will want to give him that type of money?
If the Hornets aren’t willing to give him that type of money, there will likely be other suitors. Perhaps including a team such as the Blazers, that will be looking to make a big splash this summer.
