NBA Mock Draft 8.0: Pistons take a gamble; Magic find their cornerstone
1. Orlando Magic – Chet Holmgren, C, Gonzaga
On the surface, I’m not sure there’s a prospect that the Orlando Magic would like better than Chet Holmgren. The Magic like big, long, versatile prospects – and that’s exactly what Holmgren would represent.
Plus, he’s also the prospect that probably has the highest ceiling from this class. Holmgren can stretch the floor, create for himself, rebound, block shots, and is a better athlete than he gets credit for. He could take some time to get comfortable with the speed and strength at the NBA level, but once he finds his footing he will be an extremely intriguing player.
The Magic get lucky by winning the lottery and will have the chance to take a generational talent as they look to take the next step up the rebuilding ladder next season.
