NBA Trade Rumors: Hawks to target wing as next piece this offseason
NBA Trade Rumors: The Atlanta Hawks could be shopping for a wing scorer this offseason.
After a disappointing season and then an anticlimactic run in the postseason, the Atlanta Hawks almost have to make a big move this offseason. If they’re serious about building a championship team around Trae Young, the Hawks need to make a significant addition this summer.
And, according to a recent report, if they indeed end up doing so, it appears they’re going to be in the market for a wing scorer. That would make sense next to Young. He clearly needs someone to help take some of the offensive pressure off him and John Collins hasn’t filled that role as well as many expected him to.
The Hawks potentially targeting a wing makes a ton of sense.
"[via Bleacher Report]Rival executives view all Hawks players aside from Trae Young as eligible for trade.…multiple league sources with knowledge of the Hawks’ thinking have also pointed to various wing scorers as Atlanta’s prioritized endgame."
The Hawks have some assets that they could use to cash in on a wing. Especially if the Hawks wanted to build a more veteran-laden team around Young, the Hawks could use Danilo Gallinari’s expiring contract, De’Andre Hunter, and Onyeka Okongwu/John Collins to try and land a big-time wing scorer.
One interesting name to keep an eye on is Zach LaVine. He’s a free agent this offseason and would be an interesting player to place next to Young. LaVine is in the prime of his career and could be looking for a change of scenery. If that is indeed so, and we should get a better idea of that over the next few weeks, the Hawks should absolutely explore.
Even though not many expect this offseason to be all that hectic, there could be a healthy amount of player movement. Especially with how this season has played out.
