What a deal could look like

Any sign-and-trade for Zach LaVine would require the Los Angeles Lakers to find a third team to acquire Russell Westbrook. And that would likely cost the Lakers a future first-round pick. That’s probably the easier part of it all.

After that, the Lakers would need the Bulls to play ball. And would need them to be fine with the compensation of Talen Horton-Tucker, Kendrick Nunn, and either a pick swap or a future first-round pick that would be wayyyy down the line.

And the Bulls could just say no and this entire deal would be dead – the Lakers can’t make other trades to create the cap space they would need to sign LaVine outright. So, essentially, it would have to be Nunn, THT, pick compensation for LaVine while trading Westbrook elsewhere.
