NBA Trade Rumors: Christian Wood whispers will continue into offseason
NBA Trade Rumors: According to a recent report, the Christian Wood trade whispers will continue into the offseason.
The NBA Finals are officially upon us, which means that the official start to the offseason is mere weeks away. That means trade whispers will start back up once again.
And there will be plenty of teams looking to upgrade their roster. One potential player that could emerge as a huge target during the offseason is Houston Rockets big Christian Wood.
According to a report from The Athletic, there are still constant trade whispers revolving around Christian Wood that started before the NBA Trade Deadline. Ultimately, nothing transpired at the deadline but there’s no guarantee that won’t be the case during the offseason.
Wood will be entering the final year of his contract with the Rockets and there’s no guarantee that he’s going to sign an extension with the team. If that is indeed the case, it wouldn’t be the smartest idea for Houston to simply gamble on the potential that he could walk during the offseason in exchange for nothing.
Wood is a natural stretch-4 that would be a target for any team looking for help in the frontcourt, including multiple playoff teams that perhaps fell short of their ultimate goal. Wood is coming off a season in which he averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds per game on 50 percent shooting from the field and 39 percent shooting from 3-point range.
He would bring in a solid return for the rebuilding Rockets and even though he’s just 26 years old, he may feel he doesn’t fit in where the franchise is heading over the next couple of seasons. If that’s the case, it wouldn’t be entirely surprising if Wood is traded this offseason.
