Verdict

It’s truly difficult to gauge what exactly the New York Knicks are going to do. Honestly, there are fair reasons to make for both ends of the spectrum. If the Knicks decided to go in full on a rebuild around RJ Barrett, it would be understandable.

The core may have already hit its ceiling two years ago and it doesn’t make sense for the team to continue down this path if they don’t believe there’s much upside. At the same rate, adding a difference-making point guard and wing could make all the difference too. Especially if they get Randle back into a complementary role.

Ultimately, I believe that the Knicks will try to improve the point guard position in an attempt to take some of the offensive pressure off of Julius Randle and Barrett. Expect a bit of a retooling from the Knicks this offseason in hopes of making a return to the postseason.
