Zach LaVine

Of course, pursuing Zach LaVine and actually landing him has to be considered the pipe dream. He’s an unrestricted free agent this summer but the Chicago Bulls are likely to do everything in their power to re-sign him.

At the same time, that doesn’t mean that Luka and the Mavs can’t convince LaVine to sign with Dallas. Assuming that LaVine will take some meetings during free agency, the opportunity will be there for the Mavs to swoop in and snag LaVine away from Chicago.

And who wouldn’t want to play with Luka in Dallas? Especially considering the run to the conference finals that the team just had in the postseason. A LaVine, Luka duo may not be a prototypical fit, but in the new NBA, you acquire the talent and worry about fit later. If the Mavs can acquire LaVine, there’s no reason why they shouldn’t.
