NBA Rumors: According to a recent report, Chicago Bulls point guard Lonzo Ball may not be ready for the start of the season.
The Chicago Bulls had an amazing start to the season. At around the midway point of the season, the Bulls were near the top of the Eastern Conference standings and appeared prime to be a problem in the East playoffs.
However, as we all know, that kind of all fell apart. The Bulls finished toward the bottom of the top 8 in the East and lost in five games in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. A big part of Chicago’s downturn toward the end of the season was the loss of Lonzo Ball.
Ball missed the latter portion of the season with a knee injury. One that he hoped would not keep him out the remainder of the season. Though that did happen. Ball only ended up playing in 35 games.
And it only gets worse.
According to a report from The Athletic, there’s a chance that Ball may not be ready for the start of next season. If that does end up being the case, that would be a huge loss for Chicago heading into next season.
Ball is coming off a season in which he averaged 13 points, five rebounds, and five assists on 42 percent shooting from 3-point range. But the leadership that he possessed for the team on the court is something that was sorely missed from the point guard position when he was out.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Bulls react to that this offseason. Will they try to solidify the point guard position? And if so, does that mean there’s more concern surrounding the future of Ball and his health?
The Bulls are, no question, going to be competitive next season. That doesn’t mean they don’t have some figuring out to do this offseason.
