NBA Trade Rumors: Atlanta Hawks to target Jerami Grant this offseason
NBA Trade Rumors: According to a recent report, Jerami Grant is a player that the Atlanta Hawks could target during the offseason.
Heading into this season, the expectation was that the Atlanta Hawks were going to be among the contenders in the Eastern Conference. However, that exactly didn’t pan out. Instead of being a contender, the Hawks were more of an afterthought.
Atlanta made the playoffs as an 8th seed but lost to the Miami Heat in five games in the first round.
Roster changes are likely coming and, at this point, have to come, if the Hawks are going to make their way back up in the East standings. In fact, it would be surprising if the Hawks didn’t make any adjustments to the roster this summer.
According to one report, one player that the team could target is Jerami Grant. Grant is entering the final year of his contract and could emerge as a natural target for many playoff contenders this offseason.
Grant is coming off two very productive seasons with the Detroit Pistons. After seeking a bigger role, Grant elected to sign with the Pistons two offseason ago. It paid off. This past season with the Pistons, Grant averaged 19 points and four rebounds on 43 percent shooting from the field and 36 percent shooting from 3-point range.
Grant is not only a versatile offensive threat, but he’s also a really good defender as well. He would fit right into what the Hawks need. The big problem, of course, is that the Hawks would have to part ways with, likely, something significant to make it work.
Plus, the Detroit Pistons would also have to be open to making such a move.
In a perfect world, landing Grant would be an excellent move for the Pistons. He’d be a great fit next to John Collins or Clint Capela, or both if they want to keep that duo intact. He’d also be an excellent help to Trae Young.
The Pistons will be looking to make a move this offseason. There’s no question that Grant will be at least discussed. There’s no guarantee it will get done, however.
