NBA Trade Rumors: According to a recent report, the Utah Jazz has a huge asking price for Rudy Gobert.

If any team is going to be able to pry Rudy Gobert away from the Utah Jazz, it’s going to be extremely costly. At least that’s what the recent reporting suggests.

According to a recent report, any team interested in Gobert would have to be willing to part ways with a “star-caliber player, a young prospect, and draft picks.” It should come as no surprise that the asking price for Gobert is that rich.

After all, Gobert is in the midst of his prime and still just 29 years old. He’s also coming off a season in which he averaged 16 points, 15 rebounds, and two blocks per game while shooting a career-high 71 percent from the field.

He anchored the league’s 10th-best defense while finishing as a finalist for the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year award – one that he’s won three times in the last five seasons.

Gobert may still be a bit limited on the defensive end, but in the right system and with the necessary playmakers around him, Gobert could be a true game-changer. He may not be the type of player that you build a championship team around, especially not in the modern NBA, but he can absolutely be an elite third star.

This current Jazz core has certainly played itself out. It’s clear that they’re in need of a change, probably sooner rather than later. While the front office may feel that way, it also wouldn’t be wise to simply trade Gobert just for the sake of trading Gobert.

Utah should have a huge asking price for Gobert. He’s an All-NBA level player and still in the midst of his prime.

It just may be time for a chance. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Question is, will any team agree with the huge price tag?
