NBA Trade Rumors: Four Playoff teams that may be sellers heading into the offseason.

NBA trades like the one made earlier this week between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Denver Nuggets – in which the former absorbed JaMychal Green’s contract for a chance at a juicy future pick – underscore the gap between those with, and those without, draft picks.

Teams with superstars often feel the need to go all-in too soon, and while it’s true that superstars in recent years have tried to push their way out of losing teams (see Anthony Davis, Jimmy Butler, and James Harden), they’ve also done the same on winning teams (see Kyrie Irving, Jimmy Butler, and James Harden).

Bottom line, it’s not always worth going all-in, especially when you have a young superstar. Sometimes, progress isn’t linear, and good teams benefit in the long-term by holding flat, or even trading good pieces for future assets or flexibility.

These four teams with budding superstars could, or should, be sellers this offseason, with the goal of taking one step back in order to take two or three leaps forward.
