NBA Trade Rumors: According to a recent report, the Philadelphia 76ers are still open to trading Tobias Harris this offseason.
Just a few weeks ago, it was clear that the Philadelphia 76ers weren’t right in their playoff series against the Miami Heat. Now that time has passed, it’s the perfect time to reflect and objectively gauge what this team needs to do during the offseason.
And that’s perhaps what is taking place right now for the Sixers and their front office.
According to recent reports, the Sixers are still open to possibly trading Tobias Harris but aren’t reportedly desperately trying to find a new landing spot for him this offseason. That’s an interesting tidbit that tells us that perhaps the Sixers are ready to enter next season with this core relatively intact.
Perhaps the Sixers believe that they can be a strong contender in the East by being a healthy version of their former selves. And it’s hard to not see that point of view.
Even as a beaten and battered team, the Sixers nearly made it to the Eastern Conference Finals this past season. Plus, Harris emerged late in the season as a consistent fourth option for the team.
Having Harris as your first or second option is objectively not great. However, Harris as your third or fourth option on any given night is what could separate the Sixers from the rest of the contenders in the East – especially if Joel Embiid and James Harden are healthy heading into the playoffs next season.
Either way, the Sixers are a team to watch heading into the offseason. They’re one of those teams that will be looking to make some moves, even if they’re not the blockbuster type.
