NBA Trade Rumors: According to a recent report, the Minnesota Timberwolves could target Clint Capela via the trade market.
Heading into the offseason, the Minnesota Timberwolves and Atlanta Hawks are two teams on similar paths. They’re both at a crossroads this offseason but have two very different feels as a franchise.
That’s because the Wolves are coming off a season in which they overperformed expectations and the Hawks are coming off a season in which they underperformed. Both, though, are heading into the offseason with the need of improving the roster.
And it will be interesting to see how both of them approach the offseason.
The expectation is that the Wolves will be looking to make a tweak here and there, while the Hawks will be looking to make some big changes. That could open the door for them to be natural trade partners.
And according to a recent report, that could already be happening. The Wolves have reportedly already held talks about the possibility of acquiring Clint Capela from Atlanta.
It would be wise for the Wolves to try and find a natural center to place next to Karl-Anthony Towns, and Capela would fit the bill. However, in order for the Hawks to be willing to make such a move, one of two things would have to happen this offseason.
Either, the Hawks would have to be willing to true their developmental frontcourt for taking over the reins in the absence of Capela, or they would have to find an upgrade for themselves on the open market.
A name such as Rudy Gobert would come to mind. Though, you’d have to imagine that if the Utah Jazz is parting ways with Gobert that they would ask for Capela in any deal with the Hawks.
That said, the possibilities are endless over the next week and on NBA Draft night. And a Capela trade should certainly be on the radar.
