Detroit Pistons
This was a deal that needed to be made. The Pistons add a future first-round pick, which they were reportedly seeking, and they can a ton of cap flexibility heading into free agency. Let’s also not forget that they do have the No. 5 pick in the NBA Draft as well.
Depending on what they elect to do with the pick, the Pistons can head into free agency with the liberty of throwing some big money at a player they really like – perhaps a Jalen Brunson, Collin Sexton, or even Miles Bridges.
Detroit will now have the potential to really establish a young core this offseason and go all-in on their current build. Or, if they want, could use that cap space to add another future asset by taking on a bad contract from a desperate team.
Either way, what I love most about this deal for the Pistons is that it gives them flexibility heading into the offseason.
