NBA Trade Rumors: Hawks trying to trade John Collins before NBA Draft
NBA Trade Rumors: The Atlanta Hawks are reportedly trying to trade John Collins before the start of the 2022 NBA Draft.
There’s been plenty of smoke over the past week, and the one player that seems to continuously pop up is John Collins. His time with the Atlanta Hawks could soon come to an end as it’s been reported that he could be on the trade block.
There have been rumblings that he’s been on the block for a while now, stemming from just before this past year’s NBA Trade Deadline. However, the smoke has gotten more frequent as of late since the end of the season.
Now, according to a recent report, the Hawks are reportedly TRYING to trade Collins before the start of the 2022 NBA Draft. If that is indeed the case, that gives off the sense that not only is Atlanta trying to shop Collins but that they’re truly done with him.
It’s not that surprising that the Hawks are looking to trade Collins, but I didn’t think that they wanted to get rid of him that bad.
Assuming that this report is true, there’s no question that there will be plenty of suitors for Collins. Even though he may not be considered a great fit with Trae Young and the Hawks, that doesn’t mean he can’t be productive and play a meaningful role.
Let’s put Collins into perspective here. He’s just 24 years old and is coming off a “down” season in which he averaged 16 points and eight rebounds on 53 percent shooting from the field and 36 percent from 3-point range.
He’s still growing as a player and is just scratching the surface of the player that he can ultimately be at the NBA level.
It’ll be interesting to see what exactly the asking price is for Collins and whether any team meets the Hawks’ demands. But Collins is the type of player that could absolutely shake the NBA Draft. Even more so if it takes place before it all begins.
