Once the Houston Rockets traded Christian Wood, the writing was on the wall – the team is now officially in a complete rebuild and there’s really no point in keeping Eric Gordon on the roster. And I don’t think they will.
It would be surprising if Gordon was on the Rockets’ roster when the season begins and the NBA Draft could be the perfect opportunity for Houston to trade him. Especially if they’re looking for a first-round pick in exchange.
In the right role, which at this point in his career is probably a scorer off the bench, Gordon can still be a really productive player for a contender. The big question is, however, which contending teams will step up to the plate with a competitive offer.
