NBA Draft picks: Nikola Jovic

The Miami Heat only had one draft pick heading into the 2022 NBA Draft and they didn’t make any moves to supplement that. They used the No. 27 overall pick on someone that could end up being one of the best players from this class.

Nikola Jovic was selected by the Heat late in the first round but is a player that probably should’ve been drafted higher. At one point in the pre-draft process, Jovic was considered the best international prospect and it wasn’t until Ousmane Dieng’s crazy second-half burst with the NZ Breakers that he supplanted Jovic on most draft boards.

Nevertheless, Jovic is just 19 years old and has all the tools it takes to be a good NBA player. If he can continue to develop in one of the league’s best developmental programs, there’s no question he has a chance to be a contributor to the Heat sooner rather than later.

This was a smart all-around pick by the Heat.
