NBA Trade Rumors: John Collins is reportedly “done” with the Atlanta Hawks and a trade is probably on the horizon.
Heading into the 2022 NBA Draft, one of the hottest rumors surrounded John Collins and the Atlanta Hawks. It seemed like a trade was going to happen before or on draft day. However, the week came and went, and Collins is still currently a member of the Hawks.
That led many to question whether or not a trade is actually coming.
Did the Hawks have a change of heart once they realized that Collins’ trade market wasn’t as vast as they originally believed it would be? Perhaps.
However, according to a recent report, not much has changed. Collins is “done” in Atlanta and a trade is likely still coming at some point during the offseason.
Collins is coming off an up-and-down year with the Hawks in which he had to battle injury. The Hawks’ season crumbled in the first round of the playoffs with Collins not fully recovered from a hand injury and him looking like a shell of himself.
From all indications, it seems as if Atlanta is ready for a reshuffling of the roster, and because of the frontcourt depth that the team already has on its roster, Collins seems like a natural trade candidate.
All that said, Collins is still just 24 years old and is just two seasons removed from averaging 22 points and 10 rebounds per game on 58 percent shooting from the field and 40 percent from 3-point range. He should still be a highly sought-after piece. Especially for a contender looking for one last piece.
It should be interesting to see how this summer unfolds for the Hawks and Collins. It seems like the end is near for this pairing.
