NBA Trade Rumors: Exploring why a Kyrie Irving trade to the Washington Wizards would make sense.

With the news that Kyrie Irving wants out of Brooklyn, rumors have circulated that the Los Angeles Lakers are the best suitor for Kyrie Irving, and as of now, they are reportedly the only team with interest in the Nets’ star point guard.

However, with limited draft capital and a lack of young assets, a trade to reunite LeBron and Kyrie seems unlikely. This is why I believe that the Washington Wizards would be a great option for the Nets and Irving.

In a loaded Eastern Conference, the Wizards can no longer shoot for mediocrity and continue to waste star guard Bradley Beal’s career. The Wizards have the assets to become title contenders overnight and a trade surrounding forward Kristaps Porzingis could get the job done.

Word has gotten out that the Indiana Pacers are trying to move on from center Myles Turner who is one of the league’s best shot-blockers. The Nets salvage as much as they can in this trade receiving a great, yet injury-prone forward in Porzingis as well as a first-round pick.

The Wizards make out like bandits here, getting a top 5 point guard as well as a great center in Turner who can make up for some of the defensive liabilities that an Irving-Beal backcourt would bring.

This trade would, without a doubt, make the Wizards a dark horse in the Eastern Conference, especially with players like Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and newly drafted Johnny Davis providing an extra scoring punch.

It will certainly be interesting to see how the Irving situation pans out, but I wouldn’t count the Wizards out of the sweepstakes.
