James Harden will likely take a pay cut with the Houston Rockets

At least thus far, the Philadelphia 76ers are absolutely owning the NBA offseason. They needed to make marginal improvements and that’s exactly what they’ve been able to do thus far. They already added De’Anthony Melton at the NBA Draft and are now primed to ink P.J. Tucker when free agency opens – thanks in large part to a move that James Harden is expected to make.

He opted out of the final year of his contract with the Sixers to seemingly take a pay cut that will open enough money for the Sixers to bring in Tucker. That means the Sixers will be adding, at least, Melton and Tucker to a team that nearly made it to the Eastern Conference Finals with a hobbled Joel Embiid and James Harden.

If they can remain healthy, there’s no question that the Sixers are going to be a major threat in the East. You can’t really fault anything they’ve done this offseason.
