2. The Atlanta Hawks acquire Dejounte Murray via trade

Another one of the bigger moves of the free agency period thus far came to fruition via trade when the Atlanta Hawks sent Danilo Gallinari, three first-round picks, and a pick swap to the San Antonio Spurs in exchange for Dejounte Murray.

Murray emerged as an all-star this past season and nearly averaged a triple-double for the Spurs. He’s a budding star and one of the best two-way point guards in the league. He should be an excellent addition to the Hawks, and specifically is an ideal backcourt partner for Trae Young.

Murray should inject some excitement into the Hawks’ franchise and should help this team raise its ceiling heading into the future. It will take some time for Murray and Young to gel, but you have to love the potential that this backcourt now carries.

In a few years, it wouldn’t be surprising to say that the Hawks have the best backcourt in the league.
