After losing Jalen Brunson to the New York Knicks in free agency, the Dallas Mavericks have to be scrambling behind the scenes trying to make some sort of improvement in the backcourt. After making a run to the Western Conference Finals, the Mavs can’t enter next season with a lesser roster.

That would be an unmitigated disaster. The Christian Wood acquisition was a great first step to the offseason, but they now must figure out a way to add to the backcourt. And one way they could do that is via sign-and-trade, and the target could be Collin Sexton.

Sexton would fit the Luka Doncic timeline and would help replace some of the production that was lost when Brunson signed with New York. It makes too much sense for the Mavs to not even explore the possibility.
