NBA Rumors: The Miami Heat are still pursuing Kevin Durant and exhausting all options to land the superstar.
At least for now, the Miami Heat haven’t given up hope on the possibility of acquiring Kevin Durant from the Brooklyn Nets. And with the offseason at a standstill, that could probably be the same for many teams around the league.
Brooklyn has done a great job of remaining steady and is pretty dug in on the Durant front. They’re looking for a specific package and won’t pull the trigger until they get it, or at least something close to that.
Despite the lack of natural trade assets, the Heat isn’t willing to move on from their desire to land Durant.
According to the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson, the Heat seem to be exhausting all options to land Durant. Per the same report, Heat general manager Andy Elisburg and Nets general manager Sean Marks were seeing meeting during summer league.
It remains to be seen what exactly the conversation was centered around per se, but the expectation is that Durant had to have been discussed.
The big question, of course, is whether the Heat has enough to offer the Nets to get a deal done. The reports are that Brooklyn is looking for a godfather offer and, quite frankly, Miami doesn’t have the means that would appease them.
But that’s where other teams could come into play. If Durant is going to land in Miami, it will likely take a third or even a fourth team. And if it is indeed possible, there’s no question that the Heat is going to exhaust all options on the table.
Miami hasn’t thrown in the towel on their pursuit of Durant. Can they pull it off, though? That’s the true question.
