NBA Trade Rumors: According to a recent report, it seems as if the New York Knicks are the favorites to land Donovan Mitchell.

Ever since it was reported that the Utah Jazz was open to listening to offers for their all-star guard Donovan Mitchell, there were two natural suitors – the New York Knicks and Miami Heat. However, one quickly rose above the other as the early favorite.

And that’s the Knicks.

For whatever reason, it seems as if it would be surprising if New York didn’t land Mitchell at some point over the next couple of weeks.

According to a recent report, New York has emerged as the team Utah is focused on as a destination. And that could be for several reasons.

For one, it could be that New York is the place that Mitchell wants to be. He hasn’t said anything quietly, but it wouldn’t be surprising if that’s what he was letting the organization know behind closed doors.

Secondly, it could be that the Knicks have the most coveted assets from Utah’s point of view. They have eight eligible first-round picks that they’re able to move and draft picks are something that is often targeted in these types of deals.

Third, perhaps the Jazz is going to try and pry RJ Barrett away from the Knicks. And maybe they know that, eventually, New York will fold on that front.

Fourthly, perhaps this is a negotiation tactic? In an attempt to try and get more from some other team (perhaps the Heat), maybe the Jazz has leaked this report that they’re focused on the Knicks.

Either way, the next few days or couple of weeks (depending on how long this process will take) in the Mitchell saga will be extremely fascinating. Is the Jazz serious about dealing Mitchell? Are the Knicks willing to go all-in for Mitchell?
