15. San Antonio Spurs
Coming off a 34-win season, it likely won’t get much better this season. That’s because the San Antonio Spurs elected to head into a full-blown rebuild, somewhat surprising with Gregg Popovich still on board as the team’s head coach.
During the offseason, the Spurs elected to trade Dejounte Murray to the Atlanta Hawks for three first-round picks and elected to let Lonnie Walker leave in free agency. San Antonio will now feature Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson, Tre Jones, and Josh Primo this season.
In other words, the Spurs will embrace the tank lifestyle, and with Victor Wembanyama set to be the headliner of the 2023 NBA Draft, it’s hard to blame their decision.
The Spurs were not close and are now all-in on a rebuild. This season, though, it won’t be pretty in San Antonio.
