NBA Trade Rumors: According to a recent report, the New York Knicks are confident they’ll be able to land Donovan Mitchell – and still be able to keep RJ Barrett.

The New York Knicks remain in hot pursuit of Donovan Mitchell. Though, there are other reported suitors. However, there are a few reasons why the Knicks should be considered the favorites.

And sitting atop of the reasons is the fact that they have a pile of future first-round draft picks that they’ve been collecting for this exact moment – a chance to land a superstar to set the franchise up for the next decade.

Even as it’s being reported that the Utah Jazz is doing its due diligence, it’s also been reported that the Knicks are confident that at the end of the day if Mitchell is traded, he’ll be moved to the Knicks.

"[via Bleacher Report]Knicks personnel have projected confidence, sources said, that they will ultimately be able to land Mitchell without sacrificing Barrett."

It’s no surprise that New York remains confident that they’ll land Mitchell even though there hasn’t been much reported movement on that front. There aren’t many other teams that would be interested in Mitchell that have as much as New York could offer in a hypothetical deal for him.

New York has been considered the favorite for Mitchell from the start of this entire saga and there really hasn’t been anything that has happened since that would change that feeling.

It’s been made clear that the Jazz are expected to prioritize draft picks for any deal for Mitchell and that’s something the Knicks have plenty of.

And if the Knicks are able to add Mitchell while also keeping Barrett, New York could have an interesting season ahead of them.

A lot can happen between now and when the Jazz ultimately trade Mitchell, but the Knicks now they should feel good about where they stand and their chances at landing their next superstar.
