5. Miami Heat
I haven’t loved the Miami Heat’s offseason thus far, but I fully understand their thinking. They went all-in on Kevin Durant or Donovan Mitchell. They’re unlikely to land either one of them, but they clearly saw the need for a big move.
Losing PJ Tucker is not the end of the world, but not having a legit starting 4 will hurt. Short of the team making a trade before the start of the season, the Heat will likely take a step back. They need Tyler Herro to take another step in his progression and Victor Oladipo to look like his old self in order for this team to keep pace with the rest of the Eastern Conference.
Quite frankly, I’m not sure we’re going to see that. The Heat is still an outside threat to be a problem in the postseason, but most of that is because of Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo.
