NBA Rumors: The Charlotte Hornets are open to a reunion with Kemba Walker.

It’s been a rough offseason for the Charlotte Hornets and that’s putting it softly.

But, at least in Charlotte’s defense, a bit part of the team’s disappointment this offseason didn’t have much to do with their doing. Instead, the unacceptable behavior of Miles Bridges now has the Hornets take a couple of steps back.

Bridges is gone and the Hornets must reevaluate their current build. LaMelo Ball seems like a franchise cornerstone, but there is much to be figured out after that.

However, according to a recent report, there is one current free agent that the Hornets could take a chance on. And he’s not a player that would be foreign to the organization. Per a recent report, the Hornets are considering the idea of signing Kemba Walker.

Walker was most recently with the New York Knicks before being traded to the Detroit Pistons on NBA Draft night. Shortly after, Walker and the Pistons agreed to a buyout agreement which made him a free agent.

Kemba has struggled to find his footing as a player since leaving the Charlott Hornets – though he did a couple of solid seasons switch the Boston Celtics – primarily due to injuries taking a toll on his body.

At this point in his career, Kemba is probably not considered a starting point guard and, instead, would have to be willing to embrace a much small role off the bench. If that.

Though, Kemba would be valuable for a team such as the Hornets especially when it comes to perhaps mentoring a player like Ball. LaMelo has had an explosive start to his NBA career but could use the veteran leadership that a player like Kemba could bring.

Despite his limitations on the court at this point in his career, Kemba is still a respectable veteran around the league and could play a vital role for a developing team like the Hornets.

It would be quite the full circle for Kemba too. And you can bet the fans would be extremely on board with the idea too.
