NBA Rumors: According to a recent report, there could be a vast market for Carmelo Anthony before deciding where he will play this season.

The NBA offseason has certainly hit a pause at this point and that is unlikely to change as we approach the dog days of August, but there are still a few difference-making players that remain unsigned.

And of those players happens to be Carmelo Anthony, who is coming off a solid season with the Los Angeles Lakers. Melo is coming off a season in which he averaged 13 points and four rebounds per game on 44 percent shooting from the field and 38 percent shooting from 3-point range.

At this stage in his career, he may no longer be a consistent starting caliber player but he’s proven that he could absolutely play a valuable role for a team off the bench. And he’s excelled in that role for both the Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers over the past three seasons.

Question is, where will he play this season? While the overwhelming thought is that he’ll eventually re-sign with the Lakers, there could be other suitors for Melo if he’s open to a change of scenery.

According to a recent report, the Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks, and Golden State Warriors could emerge as possible landing spots for Melo in addition to the Lakers. Melo is 38 years old and could be entering the final season of his career.

It’ll be interesting to see how he wants to spend the end of his illustrious career.

Will it be to try and pursue a championship with the Warriors or Nets (if Kevin Durant somehow changes his stance)? Will he want a reunion to make things right with a team like the Knicks? Or maybe he wants to stick around with Los Angeles and play things out with one of his good friends, LeBron James.

Either way, Melo should have a semi-strong market for his services before a decision comes. Something that wouldn’t or couldn’t have been envisioned just a few seasons ago.
