Notable moves: Drafted Bennedict Mathurin, traded Malcolm Brogdon

The Indiana Pacers have operated under the radar for much of the offseason and did well by rating Bennedict Mathurin with their top 10 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. The hope is that he should blossom as he develops next to Tyrese Haliburton.

The team also managed to trade Malcolm Brogdon to the Boston Celtics. The Pacers didn’t get much in their return, but they were successful in getting out from under his contract and will open more minutes for their developmental players next season.

I give the Pacers a passing grade because they still haven’t traded Buddy Hield and Myles Turner. The thought is that they should get a good return for both of those players. My guess is that will happen at some point before the start of the regular season.

Grade: B-
