Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving could be all-in for one more season

The pieces are in place for Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving to be all-in and to seriously contend in the Eastern Conference. Ben Simmons should be back healthy, who should add another element to their team, and they have a good supporting cast around them.

It’s unlikely that the NBA is going to go back to mid-peak-pandemic health and safety restrictions and there’s a chance Kyrie will be available to play every game. And if he’s truly playing for his next contract, there’s a good chance he’s going to be on his best behavior this season.

If that is assumed, Durant could decide to give this one more shot and come to an agreement with management that they’ll work with him to find a trade next offseason, once Kyrie is gone and perhaps when they could find a better deal for Durant.

The Nets would get another legit shot to win the title and Durant wouldn’t waste a prime year fighting for a trade.
