NBA Rumors: According to a recent report, Kevin Durant is set to meet with Brooklyn Nets owner Joe Tsai, likely to discuss his future with the team.

Eventually, something had to give.

It’s been more than a month since Kevin Durant requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets. Somehow, it seems like we’re not any closer to any sort of resolution between Durant and the Nets. Since the news broke, it’s basically sat there. As team upon team has reportedly been unwilling to give the Nets the godfather offer that they want, a Durant trade is looking more and more unlikely by the second.

And that’s probably one of the reasons why Durant is reportedly going to meet with Tsai. It’s clear that nothing has changed and this narrative isn’t progressing. Something needs to be done, whether that’s Durant applying pressure for a trade or smoothing things out between the two sides.

No matter what Durant’s priority is heading into this meeting, it can only be good. Either Durant is going to make it clear that he’s not going to play for the team this season which will likely escalate a possible deal, or he’s going to talk things out with the owner. That would open the door for him to play this season, and potentially more, with the Nets.

This is a conversation that needs to happen and probably one that should’ve happened a while ago.

The next couple of weeks in the Durant saga should be particularly interesting. You can almost bet that Brooklyn is going to want to keep things quiet if this is a conversation that goes south. Although, word will get out one way or another.

Could this truly be the next shoe to drop this offseason? It could very well be. And, quite frankly, no one seems to know what Durant will do.
