NBA Trade Rumors: According to a recent report, there’s an expectation that the Los Angeles Lakers may ultimately give in for Kyrie Irving.

The Los Angeles Lakers have been relatively quiet during the offseason thus far. However, the expectation remains that they will ultimately make a trade at some point. And if they do, there’s a good chance that trade could be centered around Russell Westbrook.

One player that the Lakers have been linked to almost all offseason is Kyrie Irving. Though, at least up until now, the Lakers haven’t been willing to meet the asking price from the Brooklyn Nets. That could change soon, though.

According to one Lakers reporter, the odds that Los Angeles ultimately gives in to the Nets’ asking price of two first-round picks for Kyrie is growing. Because of what’s at stake for the Lakers this upcoming season, this wouldn’t be surprising by any means.

With LeBron not signed to an extension at the moment, this could be viewed as a hit or miss season for Los Angeles. Could this be their last realistic shot at winning a title for a while? It could be, even more so if there’s no concrete guarantee that LeBron will be on the team next season.

So if a talent like Kyrie is available to them and it would only take a couple of future picks, it would be highly surprising if this is a deal that the Lakers ultimately decided against.

All the noise aside, a trio of Kyrie, LeBron, and Anthony Davis would be extremely dangerous in the Western Conference. If they are all healthy and engaged, there’s no question that the Lakers could emerge as a serious contender. However, before we get to that point, there are plenty of “ifs” that need to come to fruition.

Including the Lakers actually getting to a point where they could acquire Kyrie.
