According to a recent report, Luka Doncic and LeBron James are reportedly set to clash on Christmas Day.
The NBA is officially set to release its schedule for the 2022-23 NBA season within the next two weeks. Although, as is always the case each season, the expectation is that we’re slowly going to get small leaks of it.
It began this morning when it was reported that the Los Angeles Lakers are set to open the season on the road against the Golden State Warriors, which will be their ring ceremony night as well. That should provide some added theater to Golden State’s coronation, especially if the Lakers make a significant upgrade between now and the start of the season.
In addition to that schedule tidbit, it’s been reported that at least for now it appears that the Lakers will be on the road for Christmas Day – against Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks.
This would be an excellent matchup on paper, assuming both teams are healthy. If the Lakers can trade Russell Westbrook before the start of the season, there will be plenty of intrigue surrounding the team.
The same will be said of the Mavs, who are coming off a run to the Western Conference Finals.
Plus, we can’t overlook the storyline surrounding the individual matchup that will arise between LeBron James and Luka Doncic. It could be viewed as somewhat of a passing of the torch.
Luka is already a top 5 player in the game and will have the chance to be one of the best players in the league before it’s all said and done. With the whispers that Luka is in great shape, it will only add to the intrigue of the Mavs’ season.
The NBA’s full Christmas slate should come to light sooner rather than later, but there’s no question that a Lakers-Mavs matchup should be one of the marquee ones.
