NBA Rumors: Bronny James headed the college route over G League?

NBA Rumors: According to a recent report, LeBron James’ son, Bronny, is expected to play college basketball over one year in the G League.

From all indications, LeBron James’ next move will largely be impacted by how the next few years play out for his son, Bronny. He is 17 years old and will be entering the senior season of his high school career.

LeBron has said in the past that he would like to end his NBA career by playing with his son and that could be just a few years from coming to a reality. Though, it appears that unlike his father, Bronny could be looking to take his game to the college level over playing one year in the G League.

"[via SI.com]Bronny is one of the top 50 high school basketball players in the country, and is being pursued by a number of big name programs, including UCLA, USC, Michigan, Ohio State and others, per a report from ESPN.According to the same story, James is expected to play college basketball over joining G League Ignite or other developmental leagues before entering the NBA draft."

The 6-foot-2 Bronny is LeBron’s oldest son and could just be the first of two sons that tries to make the jump to the NBA like his father.

LeBron declared for the NBA straight out of high school and took the league by storm. In fairness to Bronny, it’s quite unfair to expect him to make the jump as LeBron did. Even though Bronny will have a good shot to make the league once he’s eligible, he’s not exactly the slam dunk prospect that LeBron was.

After all, LeBron is going to end up being considered one of the two or three best players to ever play the game. Playing in that shadow, it would be an amazing accomplishment for Bronny to even make the league.

If he does though, that’s still likely two years away. But there’s no question that this will continue to be a storyline between now and when Bronny is draft eligible.
