NBA Rumors: Giannis Antetokounmpo makes waves by saving he would theoretically be “open” to playing for the Chicago Bulls down the line.

Even after a disappointing end to last season, the Milwaukee Bucks are in a great situation heading into this year. They will be a contender in the Eastern Conference once again and Giannis Antetokounmpo may in fact be the best player in the league.

However, when speaking to reporters recently, Giannis said he wouldn’t rule out the possibility of playing for the Chicago Bulls “down the line.”

Before this gets blown out of proportion, I think it’s important to note that Giannis says he’s committed to the Bucks right now – which makes sense considering he just inked a huge extension with the team and is under contract for at least the next four years.

And maybe he was just being polite with this response, being asked if he would ever play for Chicago. It’s a storied franchise and Giannis has never been known for being rude to the media. There’s that angle for sure.

At the same rate, it’s particularly interesting still. Theoretically, Giannis could’ve shut the question down but didn’t.

But, at least for now, it’s a pretty non-story. It’s an interesting detail to keep an eye on perhaps when he gets closer to testing free agency. Right now, he has a great thing going with the Bucks. They’re in the midst of their contending years and Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton are still very much in their prime years.

If Giannis didn’t force a move out of Milwaukee when he had just one year remaining on his contract last year, it’s hard to see him doing that now.

From all indications, Giannis seems happy in Milwaukee. And why wouldn’t he? Giannis and the Bucks won the title last season and will have a great chance to win another one in the next three years. Could Giannis play for the Bulls one day? Sure. But I don’t think there’s much of a chance of that happening anytime soon.

Rest easy, Bucks fans. There may be a time to worry about Giannis’ future with the team but now is not the time for that.
