NBA Trade Rumors: According to a recent report, the Memphis Grizzlies are the latest team to express interest in a Kevin Durant trade.
The Kevin Durant trade saga continues as we inch closer and closer to the official start of the 2022-23 NBA season. The start of training camp is a little more than a month away, but that hasn’t moved the Brooklyn Nets at all.
The good news for the Nets, though, is that it appears there’s still a strong market for Durant. The Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors, and New Orleans Pelicans are all teams that have been linked to Durant this summer.
A new Western Conference team has joined the Kevin Durant sweepstakes?
According to a recent report, there’s one new team that has shown interest in Durant. That team is the Memphis Grizzlies. This is an interesting one, especially considering all Memphis would theoretically have to offer to the Nets.
In that same report, interestingly, it also stated that the Milwaukee Bucks and Denver Nuggets also expressed interest a few weeks ago. Though, nothing materialized in those inquiries.
The Grizzlies have up to five first-round picks they could offer to Brooklyn, in addition to many young prospects. Players such as Jaren Jackson Jr., Desmond Bane, Ziaire Williams, Brandon Clarke, and Kennedy Chandler could all be players that could be of interest to the Nets.
It remains to be seen what offer Memphis made if they have made an official offer, but there’s no question that they could cobble together an interesting one.
Nevertheless, from all indications, the asking price for Durant has been absurdly high. So much so, that many believe that the Nets aren’t all that interested in trading him.
That said, the mere idea of a Ja Morant-Durant duo is at the very least intriguing. It still would be considered a long shot, but it’s beginning to look like as if a Durant trade comes to fruition, it’s going to come out of left field.
And, at this point, there aren’t many teams that can be eliminated as possibilities. Not even the Grizzlies.
It’s anyone’s guess how the Durant saga will ultimately end. Though, at least on the surface, it appears there’s a greater market for Durant developing? We’ll see if any of these new teams actually make an offer that appeases Brooklyn’s high asking price.
