NBA Rumors: As the end of the offseason quickly approaches, it’s reported that the Los Angeles Lakers may consider signing Dennis Schroder.

While there is still plenty of uncertainty surrounding the Los Angeles Lakers as the start of training camp quickly approaches, there is one possibility that remains out there that would probably make a ton of sense.

Dennis Schroder is still a free agent and with not much traction on a potential landing spot. The Lakers, who could be in the market for a point guard, especially if things don’t begin to turn around with the fit of Russell Westbrook, could be a soft landing spot for Schroder.

The Los Angeles Lakers could be a logical landing spot for Dennis Schroder

And according to a recent report, he’s a player that the Lakers could consider depending on how the rest of the offseason unravels.

Schroder is familiar with the franchise and played one season with the team during the 2022-21 campaign. Whether the Lakers find a trade for Westbrook or not, Schroder could be a fit – either as a starting or backup point guard.

Schroder is coming off a season in which he averaged 14 points and four assists per game with the Boston Celtics to start the season and then 11 points and six assists per game after he was traded to the Houston Rockets.

Schroder would be a better fit next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis and while he’s not as athletic of a player as Westbrook may be, he’s slightly a better overall scorer at this point in their respective careers.

And for LeBron at this point in his career, those small intangibles matter.

Schroder is one of a handful of free agents that have surprisingly not found a new home this offseason. Though, Schroder is one that the Lakers could probably afford at this point in the offseason and one that perhaps would be open to a reunion.

And if the Lakers do find a trade for Westbrook, Schroder is a player that could help add depth to the roster. If they’re serious about contender next season, depth is something that they’re going to need. Especially during the regular season.

Trade noise aside, Brooklyn Nets should be excited about Ben Simmons. dark. Next

The expectation was that the Lakers would attempt to make big upgrades this offseason. They’ve tried but haven’t hit on any big moves. While adding Schroder won’t be defined as a big move, it’s one that would certainly improve their roster as a whole.
