NBA Rumors: As they attempt to finalize their training camp roster, the Brooklyn Nets are closing in on a deal with Markieff Morris

At least for now, all seems right with the Brooklyn Nets. Kevin Durant has moved off his trade demand, Kyrie Irving seems to be all-in heading into his contract year, and Ben Simmons is slated to be healthy and ready to go by the time training camp rolls around.

Though, the Nets still have a few roster spots that they need to fill out before reporting for training camp, which opens in a month. The expectation is that the Nets will look toward veterans still on the open market in an attempt to fill out the roster.

According to a recent report, one of the veterans that the Nets could be looking to add is Markieff Morris.

Morris could get a fresh start with the Brooklyn Nets

An argument could be made that Morris didn’t get a fair shake during his time with the Miami Heat last season. An early-season injury derailed his season, and he was never able to get back on track.

When he did return healthy, he never settled in the rotation for Miami. In hopes of a fresh start, it’s no surprise that the Nets could be an intriguing landing spot for Morris. And who wouldn’t want to play next to players as talented as Durant and Kyrie?

From the outside looking in, it’s easy to say that the Nets might be one of the more dysfunctional teams heading into the 2022-23 NBA season. But we don’t know what’s going on in that locker room.

Perhaps it’s not as bad as many believe it to be. At least on paper, the Nets have an extremely talented roster. And adding a few veterans leading up to training camp could be what places this team squarely as a contender in the Eastern Conference.

Morris could still add value to the right team. The Nets need help in the frontcourt and would make sense.
