Miami Heat
I’m still confused about the Miami Heat‘s offseason. Nevertheless, after falling one game short of the NBA Finals, Miami’s front office had the task of improving the team’s roster in hopes of finally getting over the championship hump in the Jimmy Butler era.
However, with the lack of offseason moves, the chances of that happening took a big hit. Miami re-signed Victor Oladipo and Caleb Martin, and drafted Nikola Jovic. That’s it. Oh, and re-signed Udonis Haslem.
The Heat’s offseason moves have left a lot to be desired. It was reported that they were pursuing Kevin Durant and Donovan Mitchell but never came close on either front. To top it all off, the Heat lost PJ Tucker to a conference rival (Philadelphia 76ers).
It would be surprising if the Heat didn’t take some sort of step back this season. I’m not sure how far they will fall in the Eastern Conference but it would be extremely surprising if they finished as a top 4 seed during the 2022-23 NBA season.
