What happens if the Chicago Bulls struggle to start the season?
From February to the end of the season, the Bulls were only 15-18. They were one of the worst teams in the league and didn’t deserve to make the postseason. If the Bulls replicate that to start the year, it will bring about some big-picture questions that need to be answered.
For one, at what point does Chicago think about a possible retooling? Looking at the roster, it’s not out of the realm of possibilities that they could do that this season (if they get off to a slow start).
Two of their top three big-money players are expiring contracts after next season. If they wanted to perhaps trade them while recouping some level of value, an argument could be made that the time to trade them would be this season.
While there’s no question the Bulls will enter this next season with the hope of making some noise in the postseason, I also don’t think it would be smart to ignore the elephant in the room that may grow too big to avoid this year in Chicago.
