Does a healthy Los Angeles Lakers team have enough to compete with the rest of the Western Conference?

Entering the offseason, the Los Angeles Lakers were a team that had way more questions than answers. And even now that the offseason is pretty much over, this team is still struggling to find answers headed into the new season.

Russell Westbrook is still on the roster, but this team will be heading into the 2022-23 NBA season without any significant upgrades. This begs an interesting question, do a healthy Lakers have enough to compete in the Western Conference this season?

How good can the Los Angeles Lakers be this season?

This is a difficult question to answer. On one hand, the Lakers theoretically would have enough with the duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis to compete for a championship. After all, it was enough to win one just a couple of years ago.

Though it gets complicated when you begin to discuss the Westbrook fit – and potential distraction it could bring – and the lack of a strong supporting cast (which the Lakers had when they won the championship in 2020).

Even if the season goes perfectly, there’s still a chance the Lakers don’t have enough to win a championship this season. And I have to believe that management knows that.
