Ja Morant will be an MVP candidate

The Memphis Grizzlies’ season may have faded in the playoffs, mostly due to the injury to Ja Morant, but there’s a chance that they could be even better heading into the 2022-23 NBA season. In fact, they better be. With as much young talent as they have on the roster, they should be better.

And Morant will be leading the way. If the Grizzlies can take another step in their progression, Morant should be one of the leading candidates to win the NBA MVP award. Morant is coming off a season in which he averaged 27 points, seven assists, and six rebounds per game on 49 percent shooting from the field; if he can replicate those same numbers or even add to them, I can’t see a way in which Morant isn’t close to the top of MVP voting. Especially if the Grizzlies are, once again, fighting for one of the top 3 spots in the Western Conference standings.

Morant is a superstar, he will soon be a household name (if he isn’t yet), and could be the next perennial MVP candidate.
